PageFair Gets Funded to Combat Adblocking

Dublin, Ireland (March 26, 2014)- Today, PageFair, an online analytics and advertising solution that helps websites deal with adblocking, announced $400,000 in new financing from Tribal Ventures, Frontline Ventures, and Enterprise Ireland.

PageFair, founded in 2012 by serial entrepreneurs Sean Blanchfield, Brian McDonnell, and Neil O’Connor, is used by over 1,000 publishers of websites around the world to monitor and counteract adblocking. Adblocking is the practice of customising web browsers with plugin software to remove all advertising from webpages. According to PageFair, adblocking is growing rapidly, and is now used by over 20% of the visitors to the websites with which it works. The downside to adblocking is that it prevents websites from making money, and can cause them to go out of business.

Commenting on the investment, Conor Stanley, Partner at Tribal Ventures says, “PageFair has succeeded in getting the kind of rapid international traction reserved for startups that are solving a critical and expensive problem.”

Will Prendergast, Partner at Frontline Ventures said, “At their current pace of 50 publisher signups weekly Pagefair will have relationships with a significant portion of the market by year end.”

On the deal, Sean Blanchfield, chief executive at PageFair says, “At PageFair we are committed to building a lasting a valuable solution for our partners. This round of funding positions us to have base in the US near those publishers and work toward that goal.”

Previous to this investment, PageFair was financed by its founders. Blanchfield has previously won success with companies such as games firm DemonWare, which was acquired by Activision Blizzard in 2007 for an undisclosed sum. McDonnell and O’Connor then teamed up with Blanchfield and worked on numerous Dublin-based games companies, such as Jolt, which was acquired by retailer GameStop in 2011.
